Noor Blaggan

For Director

“It always seems impossible until it’s done”

-Nelson Mandela

Noor Blaggan (he/him) is a 4A Nanotechnology Engineering student that has lived in and around Ontario all his life. He’s been involved in student political advocacy from Brampton to Waterloo since the pandemic.

Noor has been involved in Palestine advocacy and local politics in the Waterloo Region for the past year and a half, from organizing rallies to having one-on-one conversations with the growing homeless population around the city, of which an alarming number are students. This perspective has made affordability a major focus for his politics, learning from and teaching his community about rental laws and food bank advocacy. Now, he wants to level it up by running for WUSA Director, so that he can help the University’s undergraduate community as a whole.

Noor has also been involved in making the University publish its investments and cut ties with Technion, focusing on making sure that our university is not complicit in genocide, especially with student funds.

From including tenants’ insurance in WUSA’s insurance plans, to securing the PWYC program for all students, to even expanding and following through on finishing the Bomber, Noor wants to make sure that the University of Waterloo is as affordable, social, and as focused on student interests as possible. He will always make sure to put student priorities at the centre of his advocacy,

In his free time, he loves to play board games and learn more about the world. He loves spending this time with his friends and family, making others laugh, and talking to new people. On his study terms, you’ll find him all over campus—from QNC, to the Bomber, to random MC rooms—where he can work in silence.
