Alex Lavallee (he/him) is a 3B Honours Pure Mathematics student from our home Waterloo.

Alex has extensive experience representing students in the faculty of Mathematics.
Beginning as an executive of the Pure Math, Applied Math, and Combinatorics & Optimization Club in Winter 2025, he has since gone on to serve on MathSoc’s Council and Board of Directors for multiple terms. In Spring 2025, he stepped in as the interim MathSoc President, and continued as a full-term President in Fall 2025. As President, Alex brought mandatory Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Training to MathSoc volunteers, advocated for stronger Society representation during Orientation, better transparency between MathSoc and its Clubs, co-op advocacy, and much more. Even now, Alex continues to be a presence in the MathSoc club spaces, Council, and Board of Directors.

Alex is running for Math Senator to help bridge the gap between the Math student body and Senate. As a past advocate for better transparency within MathSoc, he hopes to continue his eVorts, and ensure students remain up to date on Senate and it’s developments. Advocacy is a daunting task, yet Alex will ensure all Math students will have their voices
heard through a strong and insistent representation at all levels of Senate.

Outside of roaming the halls of MC, Alex enjoys rock climbing, scuba diving, reading, and
annoying his sisters.
